Privacy Policy

We treat your personal data — and your letter — with the same care we'd want for our own.

1. Controller

2. What we collect

Identification: name, email, phone, postal address.
Order data: the contents of your letter, recipient, delivery date and add-ons.
Optional backup contact (name, relationship, phone, email).
Payment metadata via Stripe (we never see your card number).
Technical data: IP address, browser, basic logs for security and abuse prevention.

3. Why we process it

To fulfil your order — print, store and deliver your letter (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
To keep your address current via annual reminders (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
To send the post-purchase receipt and account setup email (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
To meet our legal obligations such as accounting (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
To prevent fraud and protect the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest).

4. Letter contents — encryption

Your letter text and personal identifiers are stored encrypted at rest using authenticated symmetric encryption. The decryption key is held server-side and used only to print your letter or to render it for you in your account. No employee reads your letter for any reason other than fulfilling your order.

5. Storage period

We store your letter and related data for the entire delivery horizon you chose (up to 50 years), plus a short period afterwards for accounting and warranty obligations. After that, data is deleted.

6. Recipients & processors

We share data only with processors that help us deliver the service:

Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. — payment processing (Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards).
Supabase / Cloud hosting — secure database and file hosting (EU region where available).
Email infrastructure — for transactional and reminder emails sent from notify.letteryourself.com.
Print and postal partners — for physical printing and delivery on your scheduled date.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.cz). Email hello@letteryourself.com to exercise any of these rights.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies for session, language and currency preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this URL.
